MCA Appoints Part Time Member in Appellate Authority for CA, CMA and CS Act
The Central Government has made some changes to the list of members in the appellate authority, formed under section 22A of the Chartered Accountants Act 1949, section 22A of the Cost Accountants Act 1959, and section 22A of the Company Secretaries Act 1980. The Appellate Authority is an appeal body for professional bodies like the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI), and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). It reviews decisions related to professional misconduct. The authority can confirm, change, or cancel the original decision.
MCA has recently issued a notification in which the central government is making further changes in the notification of the Government of India, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i), vide number G.S.R. 835(E), dated the 3rd of November, 2015. In this notification, the following changes are being made:
The serial numbers (4) and (5) and the entries are being replaced by the following members:
