NEET PG 2025: SC Hearing Plea Against Holding NEET PG in Two Shifts Next week
The Supreme Court on Monday, May 26, 2025, decided to hear a petition against the National Board of Examination’s move to schedule the NEET-PG exam in two different shifts.
The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Postgraduate courses (NEET-PG), 2025, will be held on June 15, 2025, in two shifts, with results likely to be announced by July 15, 2025.
The plea filed by Aditi and others contends that scheduling the exam in two different shifts is unfair, as there could be differences in the difficulty levels between the two shifts' exams. The plea is looking for a directive to the NBE to conduct the exam in a single shift to ensure fairness, justice and equitable competition among all candidates.
A bench led by Chief Justice B R Gavai and Justice Augustine George Masih noted the importance of the matter after the applicant's counsel outlined that admit cards would be released on June 2, 2025. The court has stated that the plea will be listed for hearing in a day or two.
Previously, on May 5, 2025, the Supreme Court had looked for responses from the NBE, National Medical Council, and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare regarding the plea. The court confirmed that the plea would be listed for hearing soon. However, the plea was still not listed, due to which the petitioners pointed out the issue again on Monday.
