New Rules from May 1: 5 Major Changes That Will Affect Every Household and Budget

As the new month of May has begun and April has already ended. Like other months, this month too has taken several amendments along with itself, which has shown influence on every home and every pocket. These amendments came into effect from May 1st, 2025, and consist ranging from LPG gas cylinder prices to ATM withdrawals. Let us discuss about some major amendments made from this month.

LPG prices

Same as every month. From May 1st, oil market companies have updated the prices of LPG gas. New rates have already been announced from May 01, 2025. In April, the LPG price of a 19 Kg cylinder was decreased, but in the first week itself, the government surprised everyone by increasing the price of the 14 kg domestic LPG cylinder by Rs. 50. Because of this, people are now closely watching what the LPG prices will be on the 1st of the month.

Checking your balance now costs Rs. 7 instead of Rs. 6 at another bank's ATM. Also, big banks like HDFC, PNB, and IndusInd Bank have updated their charges. For example, HDFC Bank charges Rs. 23 + tax after you use up your free ATM withdrawals. PNB and IndusInd Bank also charge Rs. 23 per withdrawal after the limit.
