Postpone CA Exams: CA Aspirant Writes Open Letter to PM Modi for Postponement of ICAI CA May Exams 2024 to June
The urge to postpone the ICAI CA Intermediate and Final Exams 2024 continues to grow. CA students are influencing the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI) to postpone the CA exams from May 2024 to June 2024, following the 18th Lok Sabha general elections in 2024.
The key concerns of CA aspirants revolve around ensuring that students may use their democratic right to vote while also having a quiet environment for exam preparation in the midst of election campaigning.
An aspirant shared an Open Letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on X (formerly Twitter), imploring him to direct the ICAI to postpone and reschedule the CA exams till June 2024. “In May 2024, 4 lac ICAI students are planning to take exams. These exams coincide with the Lok Sabha election dates. The exams will begin on May 3, 2024, and end on May 16, 2024. The dates coincide precisely with election dates, even although at the phase level, they may not affect all students at the same time,” according to the 11-page open letter.
“Even if a student forgets all and concentrates on study, he may end up missing the exams, if the election crowd gathering creates a traffic jam in the city restricting/limiting the movement of transportation, or loudspeakers or campaigning nearby exam centre is so loud, that the students may not be able to concentrate on writing exams,” the letter goes on to read.
CA Archana Yadav, in an open letter to Prime Minister Modi, emphasized the suffering of students facing the simultaneous burden of examinations and elections. She emphasized the importance of postponing exams in order to alleviate the huge pressure and create a level playing field for all students.
According to the syllabus included in the scheme approved by the Council under Regulation 28 F of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988, the ICAI will conduct the Group 1 Intermediate Course Examination on May 3, 5, and 9, 2024. Meanwhile, the ICAI Group-II Intermediate Course Examination will take place on May 11, 15, and 17, 2024. The ICAI Group-I Final Examination will take place on May 2, 4, and 8, 2024. The Group II Final examination is scheduled to take place on May 10, 14, and 16, 2024.
