Proposal to bring ATF under GST is under consideration and will take time: Civil Aviation Minister

In a news interview with CNBC-TV18, Civil Aviation Minister, Mr. Jyotiraditya Scindia said that he has raised the issue of including Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) under the Goods & Service Tax (GST) Regime with the finance minister.

“Proposal to bring ATF under GST is under consideration and will take time,”  he said.

Further, he is also working with states to reduce Value Added Tax (VAT) on ATF. He added that 24 States are within the 1-4% VAT bracket, only 12 states in the higher categories.

The Aviation Industry is demanding from a very long time that ATF should be bought under the GST Regime. This will help in Input Tax Credit (ITC) seamless flow and will help in cost reduction.
