Publishers Beware: NCERT Warns for Unauthorized Textbook Printing
Publishers Beware: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), a well-known organization that creates educational resources, has recently issued a notification regarding a warning for publishers for stealing their educational content and publishing their textbooks under their own brands without the required authorization.
NCERT school textbooks are easily accessible on the official NCERT website; however, other firms have been producing them without the council’s approval. The integrity of instructional resources is jeopardized by these practices, which also infringe copyright regulations. If someone sees any pirated NCERT workbooks or textbooks, they are urged to report it to the public. If you come across any such illegal publications, you can send an email to [email protected] to notify.
The publishers must adhere to the correct protocol if they plan to utilize the word “NCERT” in their publications. The publishers can email [email protected] or submit a proposal to the Publication Division NCERT to request approval.

Why It is necessary to take authorization-
Quality and Accuracy: The National Curriculum Framework 2023 is carefully considered in the design of NCERT textbooks. Unauthorized printing could lead to factual errors and a departure from the framework’s principles.
Maintaining Educational Integrity: Respecting copyright regulations guarantees the authenticity and dependability of educational materials..
The Unauthorized Use of NCERT Content: Without first requesting permission from the council, certain publishers have been producing NCERT school textbooks, which are easily accessible on the official NCERT website.
Implications of Copyright Violation: In India, intellectual property rights are governed under the Copyright Act of 1957. This act stipulates that publishing NCERT content for profit without the required authority may result in legal repercussions.
