Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is regarded as one of India’s best education bodies. A wide range of news about the CBSE school system is frequently encountered. Rumours about the CBSE board tend to go viral quite often. In general, the CBSE board itself fact-checks students immediately and exposes inaccurate material when confusion among them reaches its pinnacle. There are currently rumours that the CBSE board test will change significantly. Numerous media outlets have reported that beginning in 2025, the board exams will be held twice a year. According to some, the Central Board of Secondary Education won’t be able to conduct examinations simultaneously twice a year.

The CBSE Board recently released a press release. News reports advise against trusting any bogus information. The CBSE Board acknowledged news that was released on a news website. Released on 30th June, the story’s title is “CBSE: Board exams cannot be held twice a year.” A Central Board of Secondary Education official’s reply gives the impression that the news was premeditated.

The education ministry was notified by the CBSE, according to a media report, that the current academic schedule would not permit the twice-yearly administration of board exams for classes 10 and 12. The CBSE refuted this information.

“This is related to the Hindustan Times news article that was published. A few more news outlets have also covered similar news items. “The news article disproves the implication regarding the opinions of CBSE on the subject matter addressed,” CBSE said on X. “It is wholly untrue and has no foundation in any correspondence exchanged between the ministry and CBSE.”

According to the CBSE board, the aforementioned rumour is completely false. According to a press release issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education, the Ministry of Education has not received any communication from the CBSE on the incapacity to hold the exams for grades 10 and 12.

The New Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) and the National Curriculum Framework were discussed at a meeting with important stakeholders conducted by the CBSE on 25th June. With this session, the CBSE Board will begin adopting the new education strategy and preparing to give board exams twice a year (CBSE Board Exam, 2025)]. There have been several reports indicating that the first board test under the revised pattern will occur in January 2026, followed by a second session in April 2026. Regarding this, the final update has not yet been received by the Ministry of Education or the CBSE. Additionally, starting with the 2026–2027 session, the CBSE board syllabus could change.
