Second Tax Shock in 3 years: Mathura Farmer Receives Tax Notice of Rs. 30 Crore  In a surprising case of possible identity theft, a farmer from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh says he got an Income Tax notice for Rs. 30 crore because someone misused his PAN card. Saurabh Kumar, who lives in Damodpura village in the Aurangabad area, said he was shocked to find out that several fake companies had been set up in his name without him knowing. When a reporter asked Saurabh Kumar to explain the matter, he said that on March 26, 2025, he received a call from the post office saying he had received a letter. When he checked, it was an income tax notice of Rs. 30 crore. He had never seen Rs. 30 in his entire life and has received an income tax notice of it.

Saurabh Kumar Received Income Tax Notice for Second Time

Surprisingly, this is the second time Saurabh Kumar has received a tax notice. In 2022, he received a tax notice of Rs. 14 crore. However, right now, the tax is dismissed as it was concluded to be some error. But when he received the tax notice for the second time of Rs. 30 crore on March 26, 2025, he got concerned and decided to investigate the scene. According to a report, Kumar found out with a friend's help that two fake GST numbers were created using his PAN card. These numbers are linked to companies that seem to have done large business deals. Kumar said he has nothing to do with these companies and only learned about them when he got the tax notice. The local police officer (SP City) said that no official complaint has been filed yet. Once they get a complaint, they will start investigating. This is not the only case like this. In the past two weeks, three more people from poor families in Uttar Pradesh have received similar tax notices for amounts in the crores.
