E-filing Portal Showing Glitches and Working Slow

Taxpayer Says, "Portal is very slow and not responding properly", Urges Govt to Extend ITR Due Date
As we all are aware, today (September 15, 2025) is the due date for filing the Income Tax Return (ITR) for the financial year 2024-25 (assessment year 2025-26), and the government has not made any official confirmation regarding the extension of the due date; hence, all the taxpayers whose income is taxable or above the basic exemption limit are concerned about filing their ITRs today.
Most taxpayers today are engaged in filing their returns rapidly. However, several taxpayers are sharing on social media platforms that the e-filing portal is showing glitches and is working slowly, hence raising grievances to the Income Tax Department, urging the department to further extend the due date for filing the Income Tax Return (ITR) beyond September 15, 2025.
Relating to a similar case, a taxpayer named Mayur Gundeti shared a post on Platform 'X,' tagging the Income Tax Department, saying, "The portal is very slow and not responding properly. ITR preparation and validation speed has reduced drastically." In his post, he shared a live video of the income tax portal while filing the return. The portal was not accepting his commands and instead was showing, "This service is currently unavailable. It may be temporarily overloaded or under maintenance. Please try again later." He requested the tax department to immediately extend the ITR filing due date.
