On Saturday, in Uttar Pradesh, Bareilly, two individuals of a gang were arrested for illegally extorting money from truck drivers at the UP-Uttarakhand border by showing fake GST Bills. According to the police, three other individuals were successful in escaping towards Uttarakhand when they were caught in the act on Thursday. Dharmendra Singh, Sheeshgarh Station House Officer (SHO) of Sheeshgarh police station, said as per the investigation, on Tanda Changa-Bahedi road, some people were seen in a car stopping trucks and collecting money from them, claiming to be officials collecting GST. When police reached the location, three of them, standing out of the car, managed to run away towards Uttarakhand, while the remaining two were successfully caught by the police. The Sheeshgarh Station House Officer (SHO) said the names of these members are Jagdeep Singh and Sanjay Das. A country-made revolver, a pistol, a laptop, two phones and Rs. 2000 were forcefully collected from the truck drivers in the act. During questioning, the accused admitted that they would stop trucks coming from Uttarakhand and demand money by showing "GST bills" for the goods in the trucks. If a driver refused to pay, they would threaten him with a gun, the police officer said.About Author
