Union Budget 2026 to be presented today at around 11AM in Lok Sabha

The Union Budget 2026 will be presented today (1st February, 2026) by the Finance Minister, Smt Nirmala Sitharaman, at 11 AM in New Delhi. This is the first time in Indian history that the budget is being presented on a Sunday. The Budget 2026 will be the ninth consecutive budget presentation of Sitharaman as a Finance Minister.

On the eve of the Union Budget 2026, Smt Nirmala Sitharaman and Hon’ble Minister of State for Finance Shri Pankaj Chaudhary met with the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) budget team. The team included the Revenue Secretary Shri Arvind Shrivastava, Chairman CBDT Shri Ravi Agrawal, and Member (Legislation) CBDT Shri Prasenjit Singh. This was informed by the Income Tax Department through a post on Platform X.

The Union Budget will be presented in the Lok Sabha, where the Finance Minister will lay out the key economic figures and the government’s plans for the upcoming fiscal year. It can be watched live on Sansad TV, DD News, etc.

The Budget is expected to introduce steps to keep the economy growing, manage fiscal discipline and make changes that can protect India from global trade problems, like US tariffs. Tax experts believe that the budget may increase the tax benefits for the salaried individuals, and it may focus on creating more jobs and supporting manufacturing and MSMEs (small and medium businesses).
