Some e-filing glitches remain, working with I-T dept: Infosys
Recognizing that certain users were still having issues with the Income Tax e-filing platform, Infosys said on Thursday that it was working “expeditiously” with the I-T department to improve end-user experience.
“Even though it continues to make consistent progress, Infosys recognises the ongoing issues faced by some users, and has directly interacted with over 1,200 taxpayers to better understand their concerns. The company is “focused on quickly fixing these difficulties while working collaboratively with the Chartered Accountant community to ensure that a comprehensive set of user scenarios are supported and extensively tested before deployment,” according to the post.
Over 30 million taxpayers have entered into the portal and completed various transactions, according to the Bengaluru-based technology services firm.
So far this month, over 1.5 million unique taxpayers have registered into the portal every day, with over 15 million returns filed, according to Infosys.
According to Infosys, 85 % of taxpayers who filed returns had completed their e-verification, which was mostly accomplished through Aadhaar one-time password (OTP) authentication. ITR 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 are available via the portal, which facilitates the filing of over 250,000 returns per day.
Over 1.15 million statutory forms and 800,000 TDS returns have been submitted thus far. E-proceedings, reaction to notices and demands, e-PAN services, DSC registrations, and legal heir functions have all been enabled for taxpayers. Over 1.66 million electronic personal identification numbers (e-PANs) have been assigned. Over 344,000 e-proceeding answers to notifications and 430,000 DSC registrations have also been completed.
The software services firm’s e-filing portal has been the subject of much debate, with tax experts and others alleging system faults that have caused income tax filing to be disrupted.
“In partnership with officials from the I-T Department, Infosys remains committed to making speedy progress and has now devoted more than 750 resources to this project to complete large chunks of work,” the Infosys blog post continued.
