Overview:

Standard Chartered is looking for an experienced Lead, Finance Strategy at their Chennai location.

Roles and responsibilities:

The ideal candidate should be able to:

  • Help execute the Finance Operations Strategy through central and financial metrices.
  • Keep the execution of the strategy on track through periodic review, analytics and challenge process.
  • Validate, review, analyse and challenge various financial metrics for FinOps MT and GFS MT.
  • Validate, review, and analyse various people metrics for FinOps and GPOs.
  • Produce relevant analytics to critically review progress at FinOps and GPO levels.
  • Support the presentation and challenge process for driving the right and outcome for FinOps financial and headcount governance.
  • Financial Planning: Support and oversee the Budgeting and Forecasting with the objective of driving optimal cost of operations by GPO and Budget transfer for growth approved post budgeting cycle.
  • Headcount Forecast: To track and manage the list of open positions and the HC outlook from GPO teams.
  • Performance Management: to facilitate and manage discussion on financial performance of each GPO and suggesting areas of focus for the future months.
  • Follow up for preparation and publishing of FinOps / GFS Performance Scorecard in a timely manner.
  • Key Metrics to oversee and produce and analyse (but not restricted to) : HC & USD outlook for GFS based on GPO inputs , Budgeted vs Actual HC and Positions , key non-people components of the budget including travel, software, training and staff welfare spends with comparison against budgets.
  • Financial Control: Ledger hygiene, T&E Policy related support & Query handling, Approval of ePROC, Cost codes hygiene, Delegation of authority, Query handling.
  • Governance on Recharges:  Ensuring correctness of monthly recharges and travel.
  • Managing excellent relationship through an established engagement model with all stakeholders with ‘Think Client’ Approach.
  • Always have an eye for Process Improvements and Innovations with an objective to ‘Simplify’, while still maintaining the value delivered.
  • Have an attitude to create a Collaborative Team Environment with ‘Human’ element to build the function for the long-term.
  • The ability to interpret the Group or country reporting information, identify key issues based on this information and put in place appropriate controls and measures.
  • Responsible for assessing the effectiveness of the Group or country arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls in the business and, if necessary, oversee changes in these areas; Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group or country operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Eligibility:

  • Chartered Accountant/ CPA or MBA Finance from a reputed institution.
  • 5-7 years of post-qualification experience covering Financial Reporting or Regulatory Reporting or Risk Reporting.
  • Analysis experience in Bank’s Finance unit having Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Risk Management or any other related Professional certification will be an added advantage.
