Breaking: Govt to issue Notices to 3 Lakh Taxpayers who evaded GST for FY 2017-18 and FY 2018-19

The Government of Madhya Pradesh has identified over 3 lakh taxpayers who failed to pay taxes in the financial years 2017-18 and 2018-19. These taxpayers will receive notices from the government.

More than 3 lakh taxpayers in Madhya Pradesh either deposited less tax than their total liability or claimed the erroneous ITC, according to an investigation based on ten key characteristics. Even after the late payment of tax, there was no penalty or payment of interest for the period of delay. The GST Department is now sending auto-populated notices to all of these traders, similar to the Income Tax Department. Their investigation will begin in the coming days based on this. The scrutiny activity will not be delegated to the officials of the circle in which these traders are registered by the SGST.
