Tushar Sumera, a 2012 batch IAS from Bharuch, has been taking calls for the past two days as people from all across the country praise him for giving them hope to study and work hard. They are mostly students.

In the recent several days, several educational boards have released their Class 10 results. As students and parents await the results, anxiety levels are high. An IAS officer released the Class 10th board results of a fellow IAS officer on social media in an attempt to relieve the burden of the students.

Tushar Sumera, the district magistrate of Bharuch, Gujarat, scored 35 out of 100 in English, 36 in Mathematics, and 38 in Science, according to the mark sheet.

But it isn’t new to Sumera. Due to his class X marksheet, where he scored barely above the passing marks in English (35), Mathematics (36) and Science, he becomes well-known around exams or results at regular intervals (38). Sumera, a resident of Gujarat’s Surendranagar district, has become a social media celebrity after Shailesh Sagpariya, a motivational speaker, and later Awanish Sharan, a 2009 batch IAS of the Chhattisgarh cadre, released his marksheet on social media.

“Sagpariya is familiar with me, and he has often used my example to demonstrate to pupils how hard work can overcome constraints. He requested a snapshot of my class X mark sheet, in which I received the lowest scores in two crucial subjects, this time” Sumera shared her story.

IAS officer Awanish Sharan shared Sumera’s scorecard on social media, writing, “Tushar Sumera, the Collector of Bharuch, indicated on his class 10th mark sheet that he received only passing grades. He received 35 out of 100 in English, 36 in math, and 38 in science. It was said that they couldn’t do anything not just in the village, but also in that school.”

The photo of the marksheet was tweeted by Sagpariya First and afterwards shared by Sharan. Sumera used the microblogging service to express his gratitude to his superior officer.

People thought Sumera would never be successful in life. Even his teachers predicted that he would never be able to accomplish anything important in life. After many years, he proved everyone wrong by passing the UPSC exams.

Sumera stated that he self-studied English and Mathematics and passed the UPSC. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently praised the Bharuch district administration for successfully implementing social initiatives in Utkarsh Samaroh.
