The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is looking for eligible applicants to fill the position of Scientist-‘B’ in Various Disciplines. There are 9 available positions for the position indicated.

Probation for BIS Recruitment 2023:

The candidate would be employed on a probationary basis for a period of two years, as stated in the official BIS Recruitment 2023 notification.

Qualification for BIS Recruitment 2023:

Candidates applying for the BIS Recruitment 2023 must have the following qualifications.

For Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Textile Engineering

• Candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology or equivalent with not less than 60% marks in aggregate [fifty per cent for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes].
• Applicant should have a valid GATE score of 2021/2022/2023. The GATE score must be valid as of 03.11.2023.

For Agriculture Science

• Candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture and Master’s Degree with not less than sixty per cent marks in aggregate [fifty per cent for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes] in any of the following sub-disciplines:

1. Agronomy
2. Soil Sciences/ Soil Science & Agriculture Chemistry
3. Agriculture Entomology/ Entomology
4. Agricultural Chemicals/Chemistry

• Candidate should have a valid ICAR AICE-JRF/SRF(Ph.D) – 2023 examination Scorecard in any of the above sub-disciplines.

Age Limit for BIS Recruitment 2023:

The official BIS Recruitment 2023 announcement states that the allocated position’s maximum age limit is 30 years.

Salary for BIS Recruitment 2023:

Candidates who are chosen will be paid at Pay Level 10 according to the 7th Central Pay Commission, plus any applicable allowances. The total emoluments at the time of joining will be around Rs. 105033 in Delhi at this time.

Selection Procedure for BIS Recruitment 2023:

As given in the official notification of BIS Recruitment 2023, the selection methodology will comprise of following stages:-

Short-listing based on GATE 2021 or GATE 2022 or GATE 2023 Score:

• Candidates will be selected for personal interviews based on their valid GATE 2021, 2022, or 2023 scores, as appropriate. Candidates will be shortlisted for personal interviews in order of the value of their legitimate GATE scores.

Short-listing based on ICAR AICE-JRF/SRF(Ph.D) – 2023 examination score:

• The shortlisting of candidates for Personal Interview will be based on the valid score of ICAR AICE-JRF/SRF(Ph.D) – 2023 examination in the case of Agriculture Science discipline. Short-listing of candidates for Personal Interviews will be done in order of Marks obtained in the ICAR AICE-JRF/SRF(Ph.D) – 2023 Examination.

Personal Interview:

• Personal interviews will only be held with the shortlisted candidates. There will not be more applicants invited for interviews than there are openings in the relevant discipline and category, which is not to exceed 4 times that number. Only once the Document Verification procedure has been successfully completed will the candidates be permitted to participate in the Personal Interview process.

Final merit list:

• Candidates will be chosen based on merit, which will be determined by the total marks acquired after giving the GATE Score/ICAR AICE-JRF/SRF(Ph.D) – 2023 Marks 85% weight each, and the marks from the interview 15% weight each.

Surety Bond for BIS Recruitment 2023:

As mentioned in the Official notification of BIS Recruitment 2023, a minimum of three years after being hired for the position of Scientist-B, a candidate must provide a surety bond in the format required by the Bureau. If an employee decides to leave the service before 03 years have passed since the date of employment, they must reimburse the Bureau for 06 months worth of wages at the rate at which they were last paid, unless they were employed for a shorter period of time in which case they must pay back the full amount they were paid.
