NEET 2024 Latest Updates: NEET 2024 Result Cancelled of 1,563 Candidates Who Get Grace Marks, Check Date of NEET Re-exam
NEET 2024 Latest Updates: According to the reports, the Supreme Court has recommended that the NEET UG 2024 results for 1563 students who were awarded grace marks be cancelled. Considering this, a re-exam will be applicable for those candidates. The Supreme Court has given a decision for the petitions filed on the NEET UG Result 2024. The re-exam for the 1,563 students will be held on June 23, 2024, and the results will be declared by June 30, 2024.
The Vacation Bench, consisting of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta, stated during the hearing that the candidates would be informed of their real scores without the grace marks. The results of those who do not wish to appear for the exams will be declared based on the real marks, the court added. Justice Sandeep Mehta stated that the two options were to either appear for the re-exams or consider non-normalised scores, which is conflicting and the results based on grace marks need to be cancelled as a whole. Stating that students at 6 exam centres faced a loss of time, Advocate Sai Deepak has requested the court to order a reopening of the portal for candidates who did not approach the court to apply for the re-exam.
According to representatives, as for the allegations of malpractices during the exam, a meeting was held on June 10, 11 and 12, 2024 and the committee formed has suggested that the result of 1563 candidates be cancelled. The re-exam will be conducted for these students.
Earlier in a hearing held on June 11, 2024, the Supreme Court refused to remain the NEET 2024 adviser and asked for the NTA’s response on the matter. The court noted that the sanctity of the exams has been affected. The NTA argued this point and informed us that 63 cases of unfair means were reported, of which 23 students were suspended.
What does Union Education Minister Dharmendra Prasad Say about NEET UG 2024?
“Regarding the NEET issue, the Supreme Court made a decision. Around 24 lakh students appeared for the NEET exam and around 13 lakh students qualified. Around 4,500 centres are there for the exams conducted in 13 languages. This time when the exam was held, in 6 centres out of 4500 centres, by mistake, the wrong question papers were sent. The correct question paper was later on provided but this took a little bit of time. Around 1,563 students were giving the exams in these centres and had to face a loss. The Supreme Court’s standing order says that instead of re-examination, grace marks are given. NTA constituted an expert committee and applied the grace mark rule. Afterwards, it was found that some students got 100% marks. After this, a few people went to the court. The Supreme Court made the decision that 1,563 students will be given the choice to either reappear in the NEET exam or accept the original marks (without grace marks). I accept the verdict of the Supreme Court. The GoI has taken this issue seriously. Over 50 lakh students appear for the NEET, JEE and CUET exams that are conducted by the NTA. Action will be taken on the people responsible for creating issues in the examination.” Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said.
“There is no evidence of a paper leak in NEET UG 2024. The allegations of corruption in NTA are baseless, it is a very creditable body.” Dharmendra Pradhan told reporters. “The Supreme Court is hearing the matter and we will abide by its decision. We will ensure no student is at a disadvantage,” he added (PTI).
