NEET UG 2024: Two More Candidates Petition in Supreme Court to Oppose Re-Exam
In the most recent development about the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2024, two candidates have petitioned the Supreme Court to challenge the re-examination, pointing to concerns about equity and the effects on a large number of students. The applicants have claimed, according to live law, that it is unfair to cancel the entire NEET exam, which thousands of students took, because of the misbehaviour of a select few.
Retaking the NEET test would be a hardship for students who have studied for years, according to applicants Kritika Garg and Priyanjali Garg, who made this claim, according to a Live Law report. They argued that this kind of action would not only be “unfair” to most students but would also be detrimental to their families.
NEET Re-Examination: Financial Gain for Mentoring Facilities
The applicants argued that the legitimate efforts of the majority of students should not be overshadowed by accusations of malpractice. They were concerned that certain organizations, coaching centres in particular, may profit monetarily from the reexamination by providing more crash courses or test series.
“It is nobody’s allegation that all the students who have secured good marks have obtained them by unscrupulous and unfair means, penalizing the students with good marks obtained through sheer hard work and merit will cause a great deal of trauma and stress and the re-exercise ought not to have been allowed,” the application stated, according to the Live Law report.
Dismissing higher cutoff as justification
“That the NEET UG examination cannot be challenged as a whole just because the cut-off has increased,” the application stated.
