The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has clarified through the official notice that no change will be made in the curriculum this year for the academic year 2024-25 except for classes 3rd and 6th. Therefore as said, the textbooks for all classes will stay as it is expected for classes III and VI in the present year.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has notified all schools that this year all CBSE-affiliated schools will use the same textbooks as were used in the last academic year 2023-24.

As per the official notice, CBSE said, “The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has informed CBSE through a letter dated 18.03.2024 that new syllabi and textbooks for Grades 3 and 6 are currently under development and will soon be released. Consequently, schools are advised to follow these new syllabi and textbooks for classes 3 and 6 in place of textbooks published by NCERT till the year 2023. Additionally, the abridged course for class 6 and concise guidelines for class 3 is being developed by NCERT for facilitating a seamless transition for students to new pedagogical practices and areas of study aligned with NCF-SE 2023,” further said, “There will be no change in the curriculum and textbooks for other classes for the academic year 2024-25, commencing from 1st April 2024,”

On Twitter, CBSE made the announcement, “Reference may be made to CBSE’s circular no. Acad. 29/2024 dated March 22, 2024👇. To allay any misgivings and for greater clarity, it is reiterated that for all classes other than 3 and 6, there is no change to the existing curriculum or textbooks. Schools are once again instructed to continue using the same textbooks for these classes as they did in the previous academic year (2023-24).”

The board has specified that it will release the annual curriculum for classes 9th to 12th that will include academic content, a syllabus for examinations with learning outcomes, pedagogical practices, and assessment guidelines. All the guidelines and content mentioned in the newly released curriculum will be based on the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023 released by CBSE.

CBSE said that the curriculum from classes 9th to 12th for the academic year 2024-25 is available on the official website, www.cbseacademic.nic.in. The curriculum can be accessed by clicking on the link for secondary and senior secondary school curriculum on the homepage of the website.
