CBDT issues Updated Common Offline Utility for Filing ITR 1 to ITR 4 for AY 2024-25

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has issued the updated version of Common Offline Utility for ITR Forms i.e. ITR-1 to ITR-4 for AY 2024-25 on 25th Oct 2024.

An offline utility of income tax is a software tool provided by the income tax department or relevant tax authorities that allows taxpayers to prepare and file their income tax returns without needing to connect to the internet. This tool is commonly offered as downloadable software or an Excel worksheet that may be filled out with taxpayer and financial information.

Common Offline Utility (ITR 1 to ITR 4)

Common Offline Utility for filing Income-tax Returns ITR 1, ITR 2, ITR 3 and ITR 4 for the AY 2023-24.

ITR-1, commonly known as the Sahaj Form, is a form used by individual taxpayers in India to submit their annual income tax returns. It is meant for individuals who get income in the form of a salary or a pension.

ITR-2 can be filed by individuals or HUFs who are ineligible to file ITR-1 (Sahaj). Do not have income from business or profession profits and gains, as well as income from business or profession, profits and gains in the form of interest, salary Bonus, commission or remuneration, by whatever name called, due to, or received by him from a partnership firm.

ITR-3 is an income tax return form used by individual taxpayers in India who make a living from their business or profession. It is designed for individuals, Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs), and partnership firms who make a living from entrepreneurial activities or professional services.

ITR-4, popularly known as “Sugam,” is an income tax return form used in India by individuals and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) with presumed business income. It is aimed at taxpayers who have chosen the presumptive taxation plan under the Income Tax Act Sections 44AD, 44ADA, or 44AE.
