CBSE Took Away Affiliation from 21 “Dummy” Schools in Delhi and Rajasthan, Downgrades 6 Schools
The Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE has taken away affiliation from 21 “Dummy” Schools and six schools are downgraded from classes 10th and 12th in Delhi and Rajasthan. CBSE has taken this huge decision after taking a surprise inspection across these two states. Of these 21 schools, 16 schools were situated in Delhi and 05 in Rajasthan.
On September 3, 2024, CBSE conducted a surprise inspection in a total of 27 affiliated schools in both Delhi and Rajasthan. In the inspection, CBSE discovered a violation of attendance rules under its Affiliation and Examination Bye-Laws, and many other aspects. Hence, on November 6, 2024, CBSE issued Show Cause Notices to those inspected schools giving them time to respond in 30 days.
A detailed report was presented to CBSE by the inspection team explaining the violation of rules. Then, CBSE reviewed all the pieces of evidence like video footage and also the schools’ comments. As a result, CBSE took away affiliation from 21 schools noticing a high number of students not attending the schools regularly and no action has been taken by the schools and the remaining 6 schools were downgraded at Senior Secondary to Secondary level. The official notice released by the CBSE states that “The vital observations of the Surprise Inspection Committees in regard of the irregularities observed during the inspections were communicated as a report to the respective schools. The replies submitted by the schools were examined in detail by the Board,”.
News agency PTI gave this information quoting CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta, “The practice of dummy or non-attending admissions contradicts the core mission of school education, compromising students’ foundational growth. To address this issue, we are taking a decisive action to combat the proliferation of dummy schools and send a clear message to all affiliated institutions to resist the lure of accepting dummy or non-attending admissions,”.
