A businessman in Chhattisgarh was arrested for threatening a female GST department officer, alleging he had the authority to influence the government. The department also searched his premises after he attempted to deceive the officer.

The audio recording of the conversation circulated rapidly on social media. The viral recording supposedly shows a GST official checking the legitimacy of the registered address and premises.

When she called and asked for the actual address of the location, the businessman of a private company threatened her, suggesting he could use his influence. In the recording, the businessman says, “Should I call OP Choudhary? The government is ours; I will inform them that you have demanded one lakh rupees.

The conversation intensifies as the businessman questions the officer’s authority to conduct inspections and accuses her of fraudulently alleging that his business was not operational.

The officer continuously denied the charges made during the call and apologized, claiming that she was merely performing her duty, but the businessman proceeded to misbehave and threaten her.

The recording ends with the businessman asserting that he ‘created’ the government, underlining his power over the situation.

A GST officer highlighted that the official did not demand money and that the businessman’s actions were wrong. He said, “The businessman has obstructed official work, and we are taking action against him.”

The GST department has been looking into suspicious organizations and fake operations. Following complaints, the department conducted inspections of two business establishments. These steps were consistent with the government’s efforts to examine business operations and assure compliance with the GST Act.

Following the investigation, the department seized property from the two businesses for failing to comply with the GST Act.

The GST officers also filed an FIR against the businessman for disrupting official duties and threatening authorities during their probe.
