How to Link Your Bank Account On the Income Tax Portal?
It is important for taxpayers to add their verified bank account on the income tax e-filing portal to get tax refunds and other payments from the income tax department. A verified bank account facilitates easier and quicker processing of your tax returns.
Go first to the official website, www.incometax.gov.in and log in with your Aadhaar, PAN or other authentic personal documents
Log in by entering the OTP received on your registered mobile number. After logging in, proceed to the Profile section and click on My Bank Account under Profile Settings.
Then click on ‘Add bank account’ and fill in the details that are requested like your bank name, account number, savings or current account type, IFSC code, and branch details. Then, after carefully verifying everything, click on ‘Proceed’ to send your request.
Once you add your bank account, you need to verify it through Net Banking or EVC (Electronic Verification Code). After you make the request, you can verify the status of the verification in the ‘My Bank Accounts’ section. If the verification is successful, the account status will show as ‘Validated’ and ‘EVC Enabled.’ This means you can use the account for tax refunds and e-verifying your returns.
1. You can receive your tax refunds only in a verified bank account on the tax site.
2. Ensure that the PAN associated with your bank account is the same as that on the income tax portal.
3. You may be able to have several bank accounts but select one that can get refunds as your primary account.
