A Daughter’s Dream: Anita Kapdi Earns CA Degree at 52 for Her Father
Anita Kapdi, a 52-year-old woman who lived in Gujarat, decided to give her father a very special gift at the age of 75.
She worked as an art and craft teacher in a school. Anita used to teach creative subjects, but she was very interested in mathematics and accountancy.
She continued her studies while working full-time as a teacher. She completed her M.Com and B.Ed. While most people in their 40s start to think about retirement, Anita was preparing for something big and completely different.
When she was around 48, she started preparing for one of India's most difficult examinations, which is the Chartered Accountancy Course.
Like many other working women, she also struggled a lot in balancing between family responsibilities and personal commitments, but she never gave up.
The reason behind this decision was something very personal and precious to her. Her father, who was a company secretary, always inspired her. Now Anita wanted to surprise him on his 75th birthday with a CA degree as his birthday gift.
She registered through the ICAI Direct Entry route, and surprisingly, she even passed the IPCC examination without taking coaching classes.
It was never an easy path for her, as hardships came in the way of her becoming a CA. As Anita was preparing for her final exams, her daughter's wedding preparations were going on and her son was appearing for board exams. Household duties and personal commitments demanded her attention every day.
Even after all this, there came a heartbreaking setback when Anita lost her mother-in-law just ten days before her CA final exams. But she chose to continue and appeared for the exams despite the difficult circumstances.
Her hard work paid off when she cleared the CA exam and became a chartered accountant at the age of 52. It was not just a professional success for her but also a promise fulfilled. It was a daughter's tribute to her father and also the fact that dreams don't have an expiration date.
