Nitish Basistnarayan Bharti (41), who was working as an Office Supritendent at the Income Tax Office in Vadodara, was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat for accepting a Under-the-table money of Rs. 500. As per the information provided by ACB, the person who makes a formal complaint or the complainant, wanted a correction in his PAN card, which covers updating the residential status according to the Aadhaar card, in order to start a new business. Although the complaint was filed via a written application on the 25th of April, the suspect reportedly delayed the process under multiple excuses, and after that, he demanded a payoff of more than Rs. 1000 over a phone call. The citizen filed the complaint regarding this incident via the toll-free helpline number of ACB 1064, as he is not willing to pay the bribe. Following the complaint, the ACB team set up a trap strategy at Aaykar Bhavan, and the accused was caught red-handed accepting Rs. 500 from the complainant. Further investigation is ongoing.
