Ban of Plastic in Abu Dhabi, UAE: Paper Bags Created by 4-Year-Old Kid Encourages Plastic Ban Policy

Ban of Plastic in Abu Dhabi, UAE: As per the Environment Agency- Abu Dhabi, The restriction on single-use plastic bags has been going on in Abu Dhabi since June 2022. This added to 245 million plastic bags left unused in 2023. The initiative purpose of this policy is to spread consciousness among the people and to encourage the students to become a part of Environmental Conservation and Maintenance. Also, demonstration of the hazardous effects of plastic bags in the environment through the armed posters.

Recently, a cohort of kindergarten students from the Private Schools in Abu Dhabi, UAE asked the shopkeepers to use paper bags rather than using plastic and also they offered a bunch of paper bags at that grocery shop by saying No to Plastic. Students from KG 1 and KG 2 of Sunrise English Private School, Abu Dhabi did a very supportive thing by providing paper bags to the shopkeepers at this week. This lovely contribution by the kindergarten kids supported the government’s policy to abolish single plastics in a very positive way. This activity was introduced by a school principal and headmistress to involve kindergarten students in this innovative and eco-friendly task.

This activity lines up with the country’s continuation of the ‘Year of Sustainability’, expanding on the progress of last year’s theme upheld by the guardians of these youthful eco-champions. Apart from this, a statement from a parent justifies that they are very proud of their children and also the school have been putting lots of effort into spreading awareness in this contemporary time as serious issues are arising due to climate change. The main motive of this campaign is only just to educate these little kindergarten kids regarding the benefits and necessity of using paper bags rather than plastic bags. Owing to this, these kindergarten kids created paper bags with lots of enthusiasm under the guidance of their respective teachers.

In the Shabiya neighbourhood, Abu Dhabi, UAE, these pre-kindergarten kids deliver these paper bags at various stores near their school is also situated. In lieu of this, a positive response and feeling of gratitude were recieved by the kindergarten students from shopkeepers which boosted their confidence too. A Shopkeeper showed his emotion of gratitude by saying that they will use these paper bags from now on and also they will tell the customers about the manufacturers of these paper bags.

Moreover, the school has opened a new kindergarten garden to educate and demonstrate the 5-year-old kids about the importance of a green environment and also link them with nature. The kindergarten garden in this school also can be considered a living classroom and students can learn about plant growth, on the other hand, students can understand the delicate balance of ecosystems. A headmistress also specified that by taking care of their plants the confidence of the students will be boosted towards nature and the idea of securing a green environment for future generations enhance.
