Bharti Airtel will pay a Rs 1.07 lakh penalty imposed by DoT Maharashtra over alleged non-compliance with subscriber verification norms following an August 2026 CAF audit.
Bharti Airtel Faces DoT Penalty

Bharti Airtel has received a notice from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Maharashtra, imposing a penalty of Rs 1.07 lakh for alleged violations of subscriber verification norms.
In a regulatory filing dated November 4, 2026, the telecom operator said it received the notice on November 3. The penalty relates to an audit of Customer Application Forms (CAF) conducted by the DoT for August 2026.
The department alleged that the company had not fully complied with subscriber verification requirements under its telecom licence agreement. Under these rules, telecom operators are required to properly verify customer details before enrolling them as subscribers.
Bharti Airtel said it has decided not to contest the notice and will pay the penalty. The company added that the maximum financial impact of the matter is limited to the penalty amount of Rs 1.07 lakh.
