CA Appears on KBC, Narrates His Journey of Joining Investing and Chartered Accountancy
A Chartered Accountant has recently appeared on KBC (Kaun Banega Crorepati). At this stage, he discussed his journey of engaging in investing and Chartered Accountancy. In a quick answer to a question relating to mutual funds by him, the show host, Amitabh Bachchan, asked him how he could answer the question so fast; is he interested in stockbroking and related concepts? In answer to his question, he shared one of his life stories: in 2007, there was a company with total shares of Rs. 400; however, due to some problem in the company, shares decreased drastically to Rs. 7-8 in a few months only.
The name of that company was really famous among people at that time because numerous people used to have shares of the company. He also heard from one of his relatives that they also had shares of that company. Thereafter, he started probing the company. He started thinking about the reason at the age of 11 years, what could be the reason behind this that its shares fell from Rs. 400 to Rs. 7-8? Then he explained to his father that he cannot open a demat account at this age because right now his age is below the requirement for opening a demat account (18 years required); therefore, he urged the father to purchase the company's 100 shares in his name.
After some time, a big IT company acquired the company with its problem. Then, in three months, the company's share jumped to Rs. 92. Further, he said, being a Marwadi, a person's interest automatically increases in a field where money seems to increase. Thereafter, he started studying the concept of shares and how shares of a company increase and decrease. Then he realised the concept of shares is easier to understand for a person who knows how to read a balance sheet. Then one of his friends told him that chartered accountants are experts in reading balance sheets, and this is the reason he chose chartered accountancy as a profession.
