CBDT Notifies Zero Coupon Bond by IRFC for Purpose of Income Tax

CBDT has notified the issuance of a zero-coupon bond by IRFC with a 10-year maturity and Rs. 10,000 crores payout on maturity or redemption.

CBDT Notifies Zero Coupon Bond by IRFC for Purpose of Income Tax The Ministry of Finance has issued a notification on 14th May 2025 announcing the issuance of a new zero-coupon bond by Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd. (IRFC) under the Income Tax Act, 1961. The Ten-Year Zero Coupon Bond of the Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd. (IRFC) has a ten-year maturity period and will be issued on or before 31st March 2027. As per the official notification, a total of 10 lakh bonds will be issued. At the time of maturity or redemption, a total amount of Rs. 10,000 crores will be paid. The bond will be issued at a discount of Rs. 4,916.51 crores.
