CBI Arrests Delhi Police Sub-Inspector in Rs 1 Lakh Bribery Case, Accused Caught While Accepting Rs 80,000:

CBI arrested a Delhi Police Sub-Inspector after trapping him while accepting Rs 80,000 as part of a Rs 1 lakh bribe allegedly demanded to favour a criminal case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a sub-Inspector of Delhi Police, PS- Prashant Vihar, Delhi, in a bribery case.
An instant case was registered in the present matter on October 04, 2026, following a complaint filed against the accused. The complainant informed that the accused Sub-Inspector (Investigation Officer) had demanded a bribe amounting to Rs 1 lakh for favouring a criminal case registered against him at PS-Prashant Vihar, Delhi Police, Delhi.
During the search, Rs 20,000 was found in the pocket of the complainant and was taken by the accused Sub-Inspector from the complainant under pressure. The remaining amount of Rs 80,000 was asked to be brought the next day.
When the information about the same was given to the CBI, a trap was planned on October 04, 2026, to catch the accused red-handed while accepting the remaining Rs 80,000 from the complainant. The plan worked, and the accused was successfully apprehended.
Further investigation in the present matter is ongoing. A press release dated October 05, 2026, reads, "The strict action by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against corrupt public servants underscores its firm commitment to curbing corruption.
