CBI arrests Regional Provident Fund Commissioner and 2 in bribery case
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has detained a Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, an Enforcement Officer, and a private person concerning a Rs. 2 lakh bribe.
The CBI set a trap and apprehended a private individual and two EPFO officials while collecting a bribe of Rs. 2,00,000.
CBI searches were conducted at 7 different places in Nashik, resulting in the collection of incriminating material such as cash, diaries detailing details of unfair benefits, and so on.
The apprehended accused were brought before the competent court in Nashik today and placed in police custody until January 1, 2024. The current case was filed in response to a complaint against an EPFO official and a private individual, both of whom were Nashik (Maharashtra) residents.
It was claimed that the EPFO Officer conspired with a private PF consultant to demand and accept the undue advantage of Rs. 2,00,000 for settling PF matters at the complainant's firm.
It was also claimed that the EPFO official asked the complainant to pay over the money to the private PF consultant.
