CBI Arrests SBI Branch Manager for Taking Rs 77,000 Bribe in Insurance Claim Case
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on June 01, 2026, arrested the branch manager of State Bank of India (SBI) Dumaria Branch, Godda in Jharkhand in a case of alleged bribery.
The CBI registered an FIR on May 31, 2026, after the public servant allegedly demanded Rs 60,000 to settle a Rs 2 lakh insurance claim under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana. The accused demanded another Rs 17,000 to lift a withdrawal block of Rs 35,000 after transferring funds from the complainant’s mother’s bank account in her favour.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 77,000 from the complainant.
Several searches are being conducted at the office and residence of the accused.
The arrested branch manager will be produced before a court in Dhanbad, while the CBI continues its investigation into the alleged bribery case.
