The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two individuals along with one public servant, an Inspector of MCD, in New Delhi in an Rs 15 lakh bribery case.

A case in the present matter was registered on September 16, 2026, against the three accused, including the public servant. They are all alleged to have been involved in corruption-related activities such as demanding and accepting bribes for allowing the installation/display of billboards/hoardings/LED displays even after the expiry of the tender period and also permitting the installation/display of additional billboards beyond the sanctioned numbers in lieu of substantial illegal gratification.

Subsequent to the FIR filing, the CBI planned a trap to catch the accused red-handed while accepting the bribery amount of Rs 15 lakh. The plan worked, and the Senior Secretariat Assistant, MCD, and two private persons were arrested while accepting the bribe of Rs 15 lakh. During the search operation of premises linked to the accused, the officials recovered a substantial cash deposit amounting to Rs 25.25 lakh.

Further investigation concerning the present matter is ongoing.
