CBI registers two separate cases against Central Railway Public Servants and Private Individuals; Conducts searches at eight locations The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed two separate cases against 10 public servants, including Ex-Chief Parcel Supervisors, Chief Yard Master, Deputy Station Manager (Yard), and other public servants posted at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), Kurla, Central Railway, Mumbai, and some private individuals, on allegations of irregularities in parcel handling and facilitating placement of VPU Waggons at the Terminus. Previously, combined surprise checks were carried out. The First Case alleged that officers from the Parcel Department were regularly accepting bribes in cash or via UPI from private loaders/lease holders in exchange for favours. In the Second Case, it was alleged that the abovementioned Central Railways public workers placed at the Yard Department were accepting bribes from private agents in the form of cash and also through UPI payments into the accounts of Points-man employed in the yard. It was also claimed that the payments were paid in order to facilitate the deployment of VPU waggons at the Terminus. It was also alleged that the defendants received money from the agents and delivered a portion of the bribe to their superiors. Searches were undertaken at approximately 08 places in Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan, Nashik, and other cities, including the accused's personal premises, resulting in the recovery of incriminating documents, mobile phones, and other items. These cases are still being investigated.
