INTERPOL Red Notice Helps CBI Bring Delhi Sexual Assault Accused Back to India

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), and Delhi Police, has successfully secured the extradition of wanted fugitive Sajeer Palli Mooppam from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to India on November 04, 2026.
The accused was wanted by Delhi Police in connection with a sexual assault case involving a 20-year-old woman. According to the investigation, the accused, along with an accomplice, allegedly forced the woman to consume an intoxicating substance, leaving her incapacitated. He then took her to a hotel and used another person's identity documents to complete the check-in process to avoid detection. The accused allegedly sexually assaulted the woman without her consent. Subsequent medical and forensic reports supported the allegations. A chargesheet in the case has already been filed before the competent court.
At the request of Delhi Police, the CBI had secured the publication of an INTERPOL Red Notice against the accused. Following this, UAE authorities traced and arrested him at the request of NCB-New Delhi. After completing the required legal procedures, the UAE authorities extradited him to India.
A Delhi Police escort team travelled to the UAE and took custody of the accused. The team, along with the fugitive, arrived in New Delhi on November 04, 2026.
