CBIC Promotes 10 IRS Officers to Joint Commissioner Grade The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) promoted ten Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officers in the Customs and Indirect Taxes cadre to the elite grade of Joint Commissioner. This was made official through an office order dated May 14, 2025. The promotions have been made in accordance with seniority lists of March 27, 2025, and April 25, 2025. These appointments are operative from the dates on which the officers joined charge. The officers will remain in their current positions on an "as is where is" basis until further posting orders are given. These promotions have been stated to be notional in terms, and hence no arrears of wages shall be admissible. The promotions are also conditional on the results of any pending court cases. The officers will be brought under the pre-revised Pay Band–3 with Grade Pay of Rs. 7,600, according to the systematic cadre management policy adopted by the government.
