The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) school administrators make sure that only students who are three years old are admitted to the school and to resist parental temptation to admit younger students.

Additionally, schools are being pushed to support children in the more joyful play-based teaching-learning approach known as “Jadui Pitara” as an alternative to rote learning for children based on grades.

Principals of Krishnanagar Public School Sankar Prasad Dutta and DAV Public School Vijay Laxmi Kumar hosted a workshop where these topics were discussed. The attendees included Sraboni Samanta, the head of Abhinav Bharati High School, and Chhanda Ray, the director of the state Council of Educational Research and Training.

Numerous principals discussed the demands and inquiries from parents to enroll children before they turn three years old. Parents should not put pressure on schools to accept younger students. Six years of age is required for admittance to Grade I, according to an official.

In addition, the program addressed how to create a more activity-centric learning environment that supports children’s holistic development. “We need to strengthen our pedagogical approaches by focusing on five key areas: physical development, socio-emotional development, cognitive development, motor skills, and the joy of learning,” Kumar added. Given how important the first few years are for brain development, she asked parents to endorse these initiatives.

According to Sanghamitra Banerjee, principal of Hariyana Vidya Mandir, they have already begun teaching elementary school students through games and activities with an emphasis on a comprehensive approach to education.
