Centre Authorises DGFASLI Deputy Director to Impose Penalties Under OSHWC Code at Major Ports
The Ministry of Labour and Employment has notified that the Central Government has appointed the Deputy Director (Safety), Dock Safety Division, Directorate General Factory Advice Service and Labour Institutes, Mumbai, as an officer to impose a penalty under the provisions of the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (OSHWC) Code, 2020, in the case of dock work. The officer was allowed to exercise this authority over all major ports.
The government has taken this action in pursuance of its powers granted under sub-section (1) of section 111 of the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (OSHWC) Code, 2020 (37 of 2020), and officially announced it through a Notification No. S.O. 2486(E), dated May 13, 2026.
