Chennai Custom Arrests 2 Persons for Smuggling Gold Worth Rs 40.55 Lakhs
On 28.02.2022, Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) intercepted a passenger who was arriving from Kuwait by flight J9-1427.
During the search, Customs officials found 04 Gold paste bundles concealed in the passenger’s innerwear.
Custom officials caught one more person outside the arrival area who was there to receive the smuggled gold from the accused.
Custom officials seized a total of 880 grams of Gold worth Rs 40.55 lakhs from the accused.
Both the passenger and the receiver are under police custody, further investigation is under process.
Based on intel, AIU intercepted a pax arr'd from Kuwait by flight J9-1427 on 28/02. On examination, 04 Gold-paste bundles found concealed in innerwear.
