DCE North-east Frontier Railways held by CBI for possessing disproportionate assets
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet in the disproportionate assets case against the Former Deputy Chief Engineer (Survey/ Construction), Northeast Frontier Railways, Maligaon, Guwahati (Assam).
On November 30, 2021, a complaint was filed against the accused for allegedly owning assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. It was further stated that from 01.01.2013 to 31.12.2019, the accused acquired assets disproportionate to the known source of income to the tune of Rs. 2,15,28,395 (approx) and the percentage of disproportionate assets was around 89.96 %.
Earlier searches were conducted on the premises of the accused in Jorhat and Guwahati, which resulted in the recovery of documents linked to immovable properties, locker keys, and so on.
Following the investigation, a chargesheet was registered.
The public is reminded that the following results are based on the CBI's investigation and evidence collection. The accused are assumed innocent under Indian law until their guilt is eventually confirmed after a fair trial.
