Delhi Police Officer held for accepting Bribe

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) apprehended a Sub-Inspector of Police Station Barakhamba Road, New Delhi on November 13, 2023, while accepting a bribe of Rs. 4.5 lakh from the complainant.

A complaint was filed against a Sub-Inspector of Police Station Barakhambha Road in New Delhi, who was accused of requesting a bribe. It was claimed that the Complainant worked for a private company whose MD was identified as an accused in FIR No.16/2018, which was filed at Police Station Barakhambha Road in New Delhi.

It was also alleged that when the Complainant reached Police Station Barakhambha Road to provide medicines to the accused of a private company who had been brought there from Tihar Jail in Delhi, a Sub-Inspector of Police Station demanded a bribe of Rs. 25 Lakh from him for not arresting and implicating his daughter and son-in-law in the said FIR.

Further claimed that the said Sub Inspector consented to accept a partial payment of Rs. 5 lakh from the Complainant out of a total demand of Rs. 25 lakh.

As directed by said Sub-Inspector of Police Station Barakhambha Road, New Delhi, the CBI set a trap and apprehended another Sub-Inspector of said Police Station while accepting a bribe/undue advantage of Rs. 4.5 Lakh from the Complainant. Searches are being conducted at the locations of both sub-inspectors.

The investigation is still ongoing.
