ED official, associate arrested for accepting Rs. 15 lakh bribe
The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested an Enforcement Directorate official and his associate for apparently taking a bribe of Rs. 15 lakh in the matter of a chit fund case.
Naval Kishore Meena (ED) posted in Manipur, and Babulal Meena (Junior assistant) in the Mundawar Sub Registrar Office were caught while taking the bribery money.
The premises of the ED inspector are being searched by ACB.
Hemant Priyadarshy (Rajasthan ACB Additional Director General) said that a person had lodged a complaint that the accused posted in Imphal, had been demanding a bribe of Rs. 17 lakh in lieu of not attaching his property in Imphal and threatening to arrest him in a chit fund case.
After that, an ACB team apprehended Meena and his associate Babulal while accepting a bribe of Rs. 15 lakh.
Further, the Enforcement Directorate has said that it will initiate an investigation against the officer.
In a similar case, the central enforcement agency had inquired Vaibhav (son of Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot) for nine hours in a case of alleged violation of foreign exchange rules.
The Rajasthan Chief Minister called this action a political rivalry.
Further, Gehlot said that central agencies have no reliability now. It is a worrying situation. It is not about my son or the state Congress president. They have spread terror in the nation.
