EPFO Stenographer Exams 2025: Know Eligibility Criteria and Other Details
In accordance with the official notification released by the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) dated 22.05.2025, on subject, "Employees' Provident Fund Stenographer (Probationers) Examination Scheme 2025", the Employees' Provident Fund Stenographer (Probationers) Examination Scheme 2025 is scheduled to come into force from May 22, 2025.
The examination is available to all Employees appointed in the Organisation against direct recruitment quota vacancies in the cadre of Stenographer and placed on probation on appointment. The examination will be conducted for four papers: Paper I (MCQs) for 50 marks, Paper II (Descriptive+MCQ) for 100 marks, Paper III (Descriptive) for 100 marks and Paper IV (Skill Test-CBT) for 50 marks, each of 2 hours.
The medium of the examination will be Hindi/English. Candidates are allowed to attend the examination in any of these languages except language papers. Candidates must secure a minimum of 45% marks if from General category and 40% if from SC/ST/PwBD category.
Short Title, Application and Commencement:
- This scheme will be known as the Employees' Provident Fund Stenographer (Probationers) Examination Scheme, 2025.
- It will start on the date announced on the official website of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO).
Eligibility for Appearing in the EPF Stenographer (Probationers) Examination 2025:
- This exam is open to all employees who have been directly recruited as Stenographers in the organisation and are currently on probation. Passing this exam is necessary for these new recruits to successfully complete their probation period.
- Passing the exam within the given time is one of the requirements for completing probation, as stated in the recruitment rules or appointment order. If a probationer doesn’t pass the exam within the given time, they may be allowed to take it again during an extended probation period, if such an extension is given.

The examination shall consist following four papers:

The medium of examination will be Hindi/English. The applicant may write the examination either in Hindi or English, except language paper.Qualifying Marks for EPF Stenographer (Probationers) Examination 2025:
Candidates belonging to the General category must secure a minimum of 45% or more marks, and those belonging to the SC/ST/PwBD categories must secure a minimum of 40% in each paper, in order to clear the EPF Stenographer (Probationers) Examination 2025.Venue and Frequency of EPF Stenographer (Probationers) Examination 2025:
- The exam may be held twice a year, following the Examination Calendar, at times and places decided and announced by the authorities.
- All probationers who have not yet passed the exam must take it as per the schedule approved by the Competent Authority.
