Overview:

World Bank is hiring an experienced Senior Financial Assistant at their Chennai location. You will be managing the Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) program for IBRD and IDA to support management assertion and external auditor attestation and performing controls testing as a service to other WBG entities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The Ideal Candidate should be able to:

• Coordinating the identification, assessment, management and reporting of Operational Risks in WFA.
• Facilitating the Business Continuity preparedness for WFA’s time critical activities.
• Advising internal clients on effective risk mitigation and internal control practices relating to new products, systems, and processes.
• WFARC is looking for a Senior Financial Assistant with a background in internal controls and financial statements auditing to support and deliver the following:

What you will do:

The staff will:

• Leverage the existing control test plans (including sample size, testing method and other such attributes) to perform design validation and operating effectiveness testing of ICFR key controls for the assigned business processes/business lines.
• Document test results within Wdesk(or any other similar documentation tool) in accordance with the prescribed work paper quality standards and given timelines.
• Identify and communicate to WFARC Financial Officer (FO)/ Sr. Financial Officer (SFO) any process gaps/control deficiencies on a timely basis for management remediation.
• Identify and communicate to WFARC Financial Officer/ Sr. Financial Officer any process improvement opportunities.
• Support any adhoc tasks within internal controls or Operational risk management, as and when assigned by WFARC Financial Officer/ Sr. Financial Officer.

Selection Criteria

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting; CA/CPA or certification in audit is required

Knowledge and Skills:

• Previous audit/ assurance experience preferably in a Big 4 or similar reputed public accounting firms.
• Candidates with 0-1 year of post-qualification experience in similar or complementary roles
• Full proficiency in Microsoft Windows applications, namely Excel, Word and Power Point. Demonstrated ability to learn new technology quickly and effectively use it for maximum productivity.
• Knowledge of Information Systems and IT general control framework.
• Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and work effectively in multidisciplinary teams; and
• Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity.
