Glitches in Income Tax E-Portal are Resolved, Late Filers will not Receive any Interest Relief, CBDT to Gujarat High Court The Gujarat High Court has been notified by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) that most difficulties in the Income Tax e-Portal have been resolved, but that no interest relief will be offered to late filers. In a petition filed last month, the tax professionals' organization outlined some of the most prevalent problems taxpayers had when filing returns and uploading audit results using the portal. In response, the CBDT issued an affidavit clarifying that a bank's pre-validation is not a requirement for filing an ITR. Pre-validation, on the other hand, is required for a successful refund to the bank account. If the validation fails, the reasons are listed under 'failed bank accounts,' and the taxpayer can request revalidation at any time. Taxpayers must first check that the bank has completed the KYC process. In response to a complaint about Error in uploading files, the CBDT explained that this occurred because taxpayers used particular characteristics in special fields where addresses and other details had to be filled in. As a result, the authorities concluded that it was not a gateway error. The authority stated that it was discovered in a few cases that taxpayers were filing their forms through a third-party facility. The CBDT added that after further investigation, it was discovered that the problem was caused by inaccurate information being provided in their software systems. Return filers with numerous taxpayers' credentials have logged into one taxpayer's account and accidentally submitted returns for others, according to the CBDT. According to the affidavit, all such taxpayers have been instructed to upload the updated ITR with proper data. According to the CBDT, this issue was fixed on December 12 of last year. Following that, about 4,000 MAT applications were submitted in December and 25,000 in January. The form is due on February 1st.
