Government Appoints New Deputy Governor at Reserve Bank of India for Three-Year Term
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recently issued a press release on May 2, 2026, announcing an appointing of a deputy governor of India.
In the order the Government of India stated that it has appointed Shri Rohit Jain, currently an Executive Director, as the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
The appointment has been taken under the powers given by clause (a) of sub-section (1) of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934.
Rohit Jain will take charge as Deputy Governor for a period of three years starting from the day he joins the post on or after May 3, 2026, or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.
