GST Central and State officers to meet to Discusses tightening FAKE GST Registration Under Sanjay Malhotra, central and state officers are planning to meetup to discuss about the stricter registration rules to dissuade companies which are established to evade taxes. The meeting comes up after skyscraping record of GST collections which was found to be 2.10 lakh crore in April for a sturdy economic force, examination and survey. Now there are companies that are set up to only claim tax benefits so that they dont have to pay taxes. The meeting is set up to discuss about these issues only so that they can curb companies availing Input Tax Credit (ITC). To identify taxpayers who are suspects in this, use of AI tools and data analytics is to be done. As per data provided by government, 14,600 cases of GST evasion have been found by central tax officers where most cases were found from Haryana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, West Bengal.
