Uttar Pradesh: CGST Inspector Arrested in a Bribery Case for Accepting Rs. 10,000 from Complainant
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an inspector of the Central Goods and Services (CGST) office in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, for asking and accepting a Rs. 10,000 bribe from an individual who filed a complaint.
According to a complaint, two Inspectors had asked for a bribe of Rs. 10,000 to inspect a company, which was needed for its GST registration. The CBI filed a case against both officers from the Regional GST Office in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, on May 3, 2025.
To catch them red-handed, CBI set up a trap and caught one of the Inspectors while he was taking a Rs. 10,000 bribe from the complainant. He was later arrested and will be presented in the Court of Learned Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, CBI Court No. 1, Lucknow.
