How to Stay Secure Against Cyber threats
The Income Tax Department has issued a public advisory to encourage taxpayers to remain careful against the growing cyber threats. In this awareness campaign various points are highlighted regarding the safety tips to help users protect their personal and financial data during the usage of internet, mainly during the interactions involving official portals and emails.
The message highlights that the online security should be a shared responsibility. Unfamiliar or suspicious sites should not be accessed by the users. Users must be cautious while using the emails, particularly those containing links or attachments. It is advised to always check the email address of the sender or domain before opening any link pr file shared through email.
Only access the URLs through trusted sources or official websites. Users can expose to phising, data theft and malware attacks if they’re relying on unverified platforms. Also, it is suggested to keep your device protected with latest antivirus software. Keeping the antivirus programs up to date can significantly reduce the risk to cyber threats.
Another key factor in the guidance is not saving passwords in the browser. Saving passwords in a browser can be dangerous because in case of security issues, the other person can enter your account without your approval.
The Income Tax Department is reminding people to remain cautious and take simple safety measures to remain safe from cyber-attacks. They are requesting taxpayers to access the internet wisely and prevent online fraud. Simple measures like this can make everyone’s online journey secure.
