ICAI DT Committee requests for Extension of due date for filing ITR & TAR The Direct Tax Committee of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has requested for Extension of Due Dates for Filing Income Tax Returns and Tax Audit Report for FY 2019-20. Currently, the due dates for filing Income Tax Forms are as follows:

• 31st December 2020 for ITR of Taxpayers not having any Audit. This is the date for uploading Tax Audit and TP Audit as well.
• 01st January 2020 for ITR of Taxpayers having Audit.

The Institute in its request quoted that: In view of the above and in the interest of the Nation as a whole, it is requested that the due date of filing return of income u/s 139(1) for all the assessees be suitably extended. It should be extended least till 31.03.2021, from the current extended due date of 31.12.2020 for AY 2020-21. Simultaneously, the ‘specified date’ for filing tax audit reports be extended to 31.03.2021 as well for AY 2020-21.
